A letter from the Word
Psalm 20:7
Beloved in Christ,
Psalm 20:7 (NKJV) “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” DON'T LET THE BLESSING MAKE YOU FORGET GOD Have you noticed how quickly our habits can change when life gets better? When money is tight, we pray desperately for provision. When work is uncertain, we ask God for an opportunity. When we are overwhelmed, we seek His wisdom and strength. Then the opportunity comes. The finances improve. The problem settles down. Slowly, without even realizing it, we pray less, depend on God less, and begin to think that we have everything under control. We worked hard, so we think we did it all ourselves. We became more experienced, so we forget who gave us the ability to learn. We celebrate the result but forget the One who carried us through the process. That was the danger God addressed when He reduced Gideon's army. He didn't want Israel to win and then claim, “My own hand has saved me.” God was not merely concerned about who received applause. He wanted His people to remember the true source of their deliverance. There is nothing wrong with celebrating your hard work or being grateful for the skills you have developed. But humility reminds us that even our strength, opportunities, and ability to persevere are gifts we should never take for granted. Don't wait until you lose something to appreciate God. Remember Him in the season of abundance just as you called upon Him in the season of need. Action Point: Think of one blessing you have recently enjoyed—a job, an opportunity, a relationship, or a personal achievement. Thank God for it, and consider how you can use that blessing to serve others.
